Told You So

Before we had James I was one of the many pregnant ladies out there in the desperate search to find the best baby carrier out there. There are so many options, all of which are ridiculously overpriced, and quite possibly your baby will dislike however you won’t know until baby comes but you just HAVE TO HAVE ONE! Not to mention the fact that women all over the world use nothing but a piece of fabric to tie up their babies which makes me feel materialistic and a bit crazy at the same time. None the less I felt as if I needed one.

During the search I would send Austin pictures like this:

Showing him just how normal it is for a man to wear his baby. He rejected this idea thoroughly and I think in some ways thought it an attack on his manliness. Time and time again he would state, ‘I will never wear one.’ He would add that he was going to start a new line of ‘Dad’s Products’ which included a 5 gallon orange bucket from Home Depot with two leg holes cut out of the bottom to carry the baby in, and a steel trailer that hooks to the back of your truck and acts as a stroller/car seat/ and tailgating grill all in one. I still have yet to see any movement on this idea.

But my ‘I told you so,’ moment has come as Austin has joined the ranks of ‘sissy’ dads who use a baby carrier. Don’t they both look so happy ? : )

11 Months

Well another month has gone by and these monthly posts will be coming to end next month. Don’t worry I am sure I will still be posting lots of cute baby events and pictures! I just think going beyond 12 months on a monthly basis is a bit overkill.

On to the important part of the post… (Warning it is a bit longer than usual.)

James is getting busier everyday and we are enjoying him more everyday. I know I keep saying that but seriously it is true! He is doing so many new things now. It is official that his first word is “boof” as in woof woof for a dog (with the double o sound). The first thing he says in the morning when he wakes up is” boof.” Whenever we enter another person’s house he says “boof” looking to see if there is a dog in the home, because he assumes everyone has a dog. There are many times he says it and I am not sure where it comes from. Then low and be hold there is someone walking their dog, or a dog is out and about. What can I say he loves dogs! Austin and I are just happy that we didn’t have to fight over the fact that he said either mama or dada first. He is babbling a ton and is LOUD! We have to shush him or stick his binky in frequently in public places when he is getting too loud. He is able to point to or look in the direction of items when asked ie where are my eyes, nose, mouth? where is Charlie? Dada?

He loves to throw the ball and his arm is getting stronger each day. He loves to read books but mostly likes to read the same ones over and over. His most recent favorites are Llama Llama Zippity Zoom (I have this memorized), Ten Little Ladybugs, Peek A Who (The last page he shoves his face in to the mirror to see himself better. Pretty cute.) and the classic Hop on Pop.

He loves knocking down stacks of blocks and sometimes will have patience to stack a few of them himself. I showed him how to switch on and off light switches and he now points to the switch every time we leave a room wanting to flip the switch himself. He points his finger at everything. He does most things with his left hand at this time. I know it is likely that this will change but at this point in time we consider him a lefty.  He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. He will walk when you hold his hands but is not really into going for it on his own yet. He is getting quite clingy with mama, meaning he cries when I leave the room 9 times out of 10 and the rest of the time I have a baby either stuck to my leg or wanting to be held. Sometimes I just want to detach but mostly I am soaking up every second of it! I know that I won’t get these moments back and he is just so stinking cute!

Can’t believe next month it will have been a FULL YEAR since Jamesy joined our family! We love you sweet Jamesy!

James had his first drops of coffee… ON ACCIDENT! Whoops didn’t know there were still a few dregs left. Whatever. He survived.

He once was the baby that other children were taking out his pacifier. The tables have now turned. Sorry sweet Selah!

This is his Lemon sour face.
