18 Months

James is a year and a half. It is safe to say that it is hard to think about what life was like before this sweet, energetic little boy came into our lives. He is  ham and so much fun to be around. He is still the outgoing and full of personality little boy he has been since the day he was born. Here are some recent new things he is doing/loves to do:

-He just started reading to books to himself. He started with his first favorite book “Llama Llama Red Pajama.” Mostly he just says “yama yama” to himself over and over but it is pretty cute. His love of reading is growing which is super fun to watch as a mommy.

-His energy level is increasing all the time. This includes running around the house in circles for fun. Throwing/kicking/hitting a ball for hours on end. Climbing on an off furniture and play sets forever. It is sometimes exhausting just watching him, but it keeps me on my toes.

-He has an attachment object now. He never really attached to any stuffed animal or blanket or any thing until just recently. My mom brought me a beach wrap from her recent trip to Brazil that is super soft. He has fallen in love with it and even calls it his “bankie” now.

-He loves to give kisses. For awhile all he would do is lean over and receive kisses from you but not any more. He will now give real kisses. In the mornings he comes to cuddle us and will go back and forth between me and Austin giving kisses. Precious moments I will not forget.

-He loves to splash in the rain puddles and every time it rains he gets super excited and heads straight for the door.

-The realities of tantrums and whining are starting but overall he is a good baby and listens well. We are taking one day at a time with this and learning as we go in the journey of parenting.

-He is still obsessed with playing instruments especially the piano, guitar and drums. His favorite is for sure the drums. He recently sat at a drum set and used the drum sticks as if he knew what he was doing moving around the set playing all of the drum set.

-We just went for his 18 month check up today and the doctor says he looks great. He is in the 70th percentile for height and weight and continues to be in the 90th percentile for head circumference. The Baum and Morales big head genes are still going strong. Ha.

James continues to be such a blessing to us and we are so thankful to be his parents. Come and play with us anytime. James loves company and we do too!

One last time seeing Lindsey, his first nanny who he loves so much, before she headed out to Austria to do some Mission work.

Once a climber always a climber.
