Pumpkin Patch Fun

Today we had the chance to check out the local pumpkin patch with a group of friends and all of our kiddos. The last time I went to a pumpkin patch must have been when I was in first or second grade so I think I might have been more excited then James. James’ Grandma gave him a book about pumpkins and Halloween a few weeks ago and we started reading it right away. He loved it and now points out any pumpkins he sees. The best part is when he says pumpkin it comes out more like, “bumpkin,” so all I day long I hear, “bumpkin, bumpkin.”

Anyways back to the pumpkin patch, they had a pretty sweet set up. Pig races, pumpkin cannons, train rides, sweet bouncy inflatable thingys, and of course picking pumpkins. I think it is safe to say everyone had a good time and we all succeeded in getting pumpkins! I had one of those surreal life moments while we were riding the choo choo train. I thought, “How is it that we are here in this stage of life? Married with kids? Riding the choo choo train?” I still can’t believe it sometimes. Life goes by so quickly but OH what a SWEET time in life it is!

Watching the pig races with the daddies.

Love this. James is pointing out the plane in the sky.

Checking out the piggies.

Trying to get this many kids to take a picture is impossible.

Picking out his pumpkin.

And did I mention the sunset was INCREDIBLE!

Me and my boy.

Those cheeks!

Trick to getting lots of kids to take a picture=give them something sweet to eat.

Gahh he melts my heart.

‘Tis the Season

Well the Christmas season is in full blast around our house and here are just a few reasons why….

1. Decorating for Christmas with the neighbors using tall bucket trucks to deck out the super tall pine trees in our neighborhood.

Our house all lit up. Didn’t get to the display this year but we will have a lot more time to prepare for next year!

2. Birthday celebrations for me with my family.

3. Walking through Winterhaven with a large group of our friends and having them all over for hot cocoa and treats afterwards. BTW if you are walking through just text us and we will supply you with some delicious goodies and hot beverages.

Auntie Ani and James showing off their props.

A full house= A happy house : )

4. Being invited over to our neighbors for a big family dinner. This is the first time as a married couple (besides our time in Tanzania) where we have met and hung out with multiple neighbors. WE LOVE IT!!!

5. Hot tubbing in the middle of December. I LOVE ARIZONA WINTERS!!! Since I will be missing my fourth season of snow boarding, (I don’t want to talk about it! Mark my words I will be out there next year!), we decided to pretend as if we had finished a long day of boarding, instead we watched the Art of Flight a sweet video capturing some of the world’s best snowboarders pushing the limits of boarding, and ended the day chillin in the hot tub. Not quite the same but it was fun either way.

6. Random conversations with my husband including this one. Austin: “One day when we have time to be come Country stars (Never mind wanting to become Country stars), I’m going to write a song. It will go like this… (Austin in his most ridiculous singing voice), ‘Our love is SUPER DUTY. Da Na Na Na’ (His rendition of strong guitar chords that follow the catchy chorus line.)” His inspiration was a large F250 SUPER DUTY Ford pickup. He said he figures if there can be a song about a Red Solo Cup that can go big, this song is a sure bet. Life is seriously more fun when conversations such as this fill your day. I LOVE MY HUSBAND.

7. Grandma coming to visit to spoil baby James. Eating a delicious ham dinner and celebrating an early Christmas.

Unwrapping his very first Christmas present.

8. James celebrating his very first Chanukah as we do every year with our friends.

9. The coming of Austin’s 30th birthday on the Apocalypse. Poor Austin it’s bad enough that his birthday is on the shortest day of the year each year.

10. Remembering Jesus and soaking up the season of Advent as we celebrate the arrival of the Savior of the world.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6-7

Friday Night BBQs

Austin and I have been members at the Tucson Racquet Club for four years now. We love it! It’s has a great family friendly atmosphere. The gym is great, especially when it is 100 degrees out. They have two pools one for laps and one for play. They have a ton of tennis and racquet ball courts. They have a full restaurant and bar, hair salon and our new favorite, a nursery for baby James. However one of the best parts of the racquet club we only recently discovered, Friday Night BBQS!

Beginning at the end if March all the way through September they host BBQS. Austin and I decided to finally check one out after James was born and we have been hooked ever since. There are kids running around everywhere, swimming in the pool and having fun with their friends. There is always a live band. You never know what you’re going to get but they are always usually pretty good. There is an enormous grill and the BBQ eats are flowing all night long. It really is a classic Tucson summer night. It reminds me of being at the swim meets when I was a kid.

Last Friday we decided to invite a few friends to join us as guests are free to this event. It was so much fun having our friends join us in this tradition. We had good food, swimming time, and great company! Who could ask for more?

Check out my new shades!

The McTovars : )

Life has been super busy the past few weeks but in the best way possible! I have been helping prepare for one of my best friend’s, Kristin’s wedding. Kristin and I met my sophomore year or college as she needed a place to live and I needed roommates. She and two other girls moved in that fall. I can honestly say it was the best year I had roommate wise in all of my years in college and much of it had to do with Kristin and how well she loves those around her. I have been so blessed by her friendship over the past 8 years.

And it gets better. She is married to Mr. Alex Tovar who I went to high school with, and who Austin has been on a small group for many years. The two could not be more perfect for each other!

We spent the past couple weeks making center pieces, signs and making sure all the details we taken care of. It was a lot of fun but reminded me just how much work weddings are! The wedding went off without a hitch and the reception was a blast! Congrats
Mr. and Mrs. Tovar!!

Mommy Fellowship

I have been extremely blesses to be surrounded by a community of wonderful, faith filled mommies! Some of them a few steps ahead with babies older than James or multiple babies and some of them a few steps behind with babies younger than James or soon to be babies. James and I have been soaking up the opportunities to hang out with our friends. I love that my friends that have babies older than James are able to help me out and give me support and advice and that I am able to do this for friends with babies younger than James. It’s a great circle of mommy fellowship!

James and I hanging out with Stacey and Mae. And a shout out to her big sister Claire who loves baby James too.

Hanging out with Kerrie, Piper and soon to be Reagan : )

The lovely Carrie, Nevaeh and soon to be James and Selah.

James’ friend Cohen whose mommy Jenna is another great mommy friend.
My dear friend Gigi who I’ve known since kindergarten with her baby Rob.

The best part about all of our friends is that we share our faith in CHRIST! In the craziness of being a mom with the lack of sleep, adjustment in marriage, emotional roller coaster and all most importantly the JOYS of having children we are able to encourage and support each other in His name. There is nothing like it when it comes to fellowship.

As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)

Thoughts on One Year Old’s Birthday Parties…

We were invited to our dear friend’s joint first birthday party for their little girls and were super happy to attend. Grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends were all there to say happy birthday to the sweet baby girls. I haven’t been to a one year old birthday party in awhile but being there reminded me of a few things.

1) One year old’s can get easily over stimulated by too many people, and too much food. We realized this as one of the babies had not had a nap, was pretty fussy compared to her normal self, and even face planted into the ground crying when people were trying to console her and pick her up.

2) One year old’s could careless if you sing them Happy Birthday but LOVE to eat cake and get REALLY MESSY while doing it.

3) Cake pops are a great option when little kids are around as they are fun, easy to eat, and way smaller portions than normal pieces of cake.

3) One year old birthday parties are more for the friends and family than for the baby, and that is more than alright.

Happy Birthday Sweet Nevaeh and Ellie! We LOVE you!
