Picture Updates

So it’s been awhile.  Between still recovering from my flu which settled in my lungs and I am taking antibiotics for now, and starting a new job, I have had low motivation to blog and have been wanting to rest a lot. So here are a few picture updates from the past few weeks.

Driving down the road the other day when I looked over and saw this….

The Dog Man

Yes it is a minivan with dog statues all over the hood and top of the car. AWESOME. The back window also had a sign that said THE DOG MAN. I just had to take a picture.

Mmmm Blueberries and ice cream

Blueberries were on sale this week. Put them on top of ice cream and they are delicious. We also got to eat them in our super cute bowls given to us by our friends from Denmark, in Tanzania. Love them.

Snow in Tucson

It snowed in Tucson overnight. I LOVE SNOW. I am so thankful for being able to wake up to this beautiful view on the way to church. I only wish I could go snowboarding and play in it.

Dog Park Fun

We have been going to the dog park A LOT lately. The dogs just love it there. We go to the newest dog park in town called the “Smilin’ Dog Ranch.” It is always filled with dogs and really has its own little dog community. By far the best dog park in town.

Painting Time

We have been trying to get some projects done on the house and we are SO SO SO close to finishing painting the patio. Austin has done the bulk of the work, but I got my hands dirty a bit too. I am so happy this is getting done because we meant to paint it 3 years ago when we finished building the patio. Oh well. Better late than never.

That’s all for now. Hopefully I will be able to keep up more often this week!

Day 3

Well I am still stuck here in bed and 3 full days of  this has resulted in in some rather embarrassing behaviors.

After watching “good tv” and “good movies” such as Despicable Me, and Heroes, I have now resorted to trash TV. Keep in mind a few weeks ago we did not even have a TV and I was more than okay with it because of how the junk sucks me in. I have now, shamefully I might add, watched for the first time:

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (Not as exciting as it seemed coming from a 5th grade teacher’s perspective.)

The VIEW (Those ladies seriously talk too much, and when did Whoopi Goldberg become the leading lady? It’s all good Whoopi because I will always love you for your role in Sister Act 2.)

The Price Is Right (Without Bob Barker and with Drew Carey, it’s just not the same.)

Rachael Ray (The TV show not her cooking show on Food Network. I must give kudos though because I learned how to cut grape tomatoes in half much faster by using two plastic deli lids one on top one on bottom and placing the tomatoes between.)

Regis and Kelly (Apparently being sick has made me more emotional than normal because I sobbed when they were doing their portion on “The World’s Greatest Love Stories.”)

However there have been some good things that have happened:

My fever is gone! HOORAY

I weigh the same that I did the day after my wedding. (For those of you who do not know Austin and I and many of our guests were blessed by one of those nasty flus that spreads overnight, the night of our wedding. Thankfully it did not happen until after all the celebrations and we had a few hours at the hotel together. Needless to say it resulted in some unneeded weight loss.)

The puppies are in HEAVEN! I have been too lazy to open and close the door for them so I have resorted to leaving it open all day. They fresh air is nice and they can choose inside with mommy or outside basking in the sun.

Osa, my loyal puppy, right at my couch side.

Tank enjoying nap time.

Charlie soakin up the rays on this perfect 80 degree weather day. He is just like his father.

And last but not least, I GOT A FULL TIME JOB! YAY!

Celebrations, Sweethearts and Sickness

Celebrations-

That’s right today is Arizona’s 99th Birthday. Next year the big 100. Brainstorming what kind of celebration we could have for this grand occasion next year. I called my Dad and said “Happy Arizona Statehood Day!” in which he replied, “I remember when it was the 50th birthday of Arizona and I was 11 years old.” Wow! Can my dad really be that old?

Sweethearts-

Valentine’s Day is not that big of a deal here at the Baum’s but I was thankful for the sweet card and flowers my sweet husband got me.

Sickness-

I have officially been sick on the couch for 2 days straight. Some kind of flu or something. I am hoping it leaves me soon, but I am so thankful for a husband who takes such good care of me while sick. I love the “in sickness and in health” part of marriage.

The Red Door

So Austin got this idea to paint our front door red. Actually, he has been talking about it for a few years now, but I finally gave in and decided to let him give it a whirl.

What do you think?

A work in progress

The Finished Product

Random Days

The past few days have been filled with random, sad and some oh so exciting things. Here’s a just a taste:

– Went to the dentist, in America, for the first time in a long time, of course I was 10 minutes late and got THE LOOK from the secretary and she scolded me for it. I told her I still run on African time. However, the dental hygienist told me my teeth had practically nothing on them and they were beautiful so it did not take long. Yay for good teeth!

So true!

-After years of complaining about how large our couches were Austin and I decided to take the plunge and sell them on craigslist. We sold them with in 24 hours of posting the add for almost exactly what we wanted and then turned around and bought a new smaller couch for ourselves with in the next 24 hours.

The doggies enjoying the old couches.

– Due to new furniture we decided to swap the living room with the dining room and vice a versa. It is still a work in progress but coming along nicely.

The New Dining Room (Still need some chairs)

The New Living Room

– In case you live in a hole, the weather in America has been much colder than people care for, even though it is winter. Tucson has not escaped this cold spell. We woke up to frozen pipes and a temperature of 14 which feels like 4 degrees with wind chill. Brrrrr…. However, you will not see me complaining one bit. I will take this over sweating any day!

Yes! It can happen in Tucson too.

– I applied for a job at 10am and received a call back the same day at 4pm. Talk about the Lord’s provision. I still do not have the job yet but I have an interview tomorrow. Pray for me.

– A good friend of the family passed away this week, at the age of 85. She and her husband have attended the church I grew up at since before I can remember and faithfully have been there every week at the Mass my parents sing at for years and years. Frank and Lyn met as children and have been married for over 64 years!!! Talk about a life long love. So inspirational. They are wonderful people and even took my brother under their wings as he joined the military. Pray for Frank as I am sure it will be hardest on him. Thank you Lord for such a beautiful life!
